Terms of Service

Last updated: May 29, 2026

These Terms govern the conditions for using the voice-chat-based cross-language matching service (the "Service") provided by haru (the "Operator"), as well as the rights and obligations of the Operator and members.

Purpose

These Terms set out the conditions and procedures for using the Service provided by the Operator, as well as the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of the Operator and its members.

Sign-up and Eligibility

  1. Only individuals aged 18 or older may sign up for the Service.
  2. Members must provide accurate information requested by the Operator at sign-up. Matters concerning the personal information the Operator collects and uses are governed by the Privacy Policy.
  3. The Operator may refuse sign-up or restrict use for reasons such as a suspected status as a minor or accumulated reports.

Provision of the Service

The Operator provides features including match discovery, likes and matches, chat with matched partners (text, automatic translation, and voice synthesis using the sender's voice clone), and the registration and synthesis of voice intros. Some features are provided through external providers; matters concerning external processing are governed by the Privacy Policy.

Members' Obligations

Members must not engage in any of the following:

  1. Impersonating others or registering false information.
  2. Signing up as a minor, or attempting to access the Service while knowing the user is a minor.
  3. Creating or sending prohibited content as designated by the Operator, such as sexual content, drug-related content, content involving minors, or incitement to self-harm.
  4. Using others' voice, photos, or images without authorization, or creating a voice clone for the purpose of impersonation or misappropriation.
  5. Spam or advertising that directs users to external channels (messenger IDs, phone numbers, etc.).
  6. Automated access, crawling, reverse engineering, or other acts that undermine the safety of the Service.

Zero Tolerance for Objectionable Content and Abusive Users

The Operator enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy toward objectionable content and toward users who behave abusively toward other members. There is no tolerance for objectionable content — including sexual, violent, hateful, harassing, discriminatory, or minor-related content — or for users who threaten, harass, or abuse other members.

  1. Members can report objectionable content or abusive users using the Report feature in the chat screen, and can block a specific user using the Block feature so that they are no longer connected.
  2. The Operator reviews submitted reports and acts on objectionable content within 24 hours by removing the offending content and ejecting (suspending or banning) the user who provided it.
  3. By using the Service, members agree to this zero-tolerance policy.

Content Moderation

For the safety of the Service, the Operator reviews content such as messages and voice intros created or sent by members, and may automatically block prohibited content such as sexual, drug-related, minor-related, or self-harm-inciting content. If reports against the same member accumulate to a certain number, the Operator may suspend the account without prior notice, and a suspended member can find the appeal channel through in-app guidance. The retention and handling of records related to blocking, suspension, and reports are governed by the Privacy Policy.

Processing of Personal Information and Voice Data

The collection, use, retention, and destruction of members' personal information and voice data — including voice clones, voice messages, and voice intros — are governed by the Privacy Policy.

Account Deletion and Data Removal

Members may delete their account at any time via [Settings → Account → Delete Account] within the Service, or by request to the customer support email (haru.official.app@gmail.com) through an out-of-app channel. The deletion, anonymization, and retention of member data upon account deletion are governed by the Privacy Policy and the Account Deletion Guide.

Limitation of Liability

  1. The Operator is not liable for damages arising from force majeure, failures of external providers, or causes attributable to the member.
  2. The Operator does not directly intervene in disputes between members, but may take blocking or suspension measures in accordance with its content moderation policy.

Amendment of These Terms

The Operator may amend these Terms within the scope permitted by applicable laws, and in the event of an amendment, members will be notified before the effective date.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are interpreted under the laws of the Republic of Korea, and any dispute is subject to the court having jurisdiction under applicable laws.
